I’m currently a 5th-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science, UNC-Chapel Hill, working with Prof. Mohit Bansal.
I received my bachelor’s degree at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in 2018, where I worked with Prof. Kai Yu. I was a member of the IEEE honored class. I also spent one summer visiting the University of Notre Dame, working with Prof. David Chiang.
Previously, I have interned at Google with Manaal Faruqui, Aditya Gupta and Shyam Upadhyay, at Facebook AI Research with Jean Maillard, and at Amazon with Heba Elfardy and Tom Butler.
My current research interest lies in understanding and improving the generalizability and robustness of NLP models. Ultimately, I am curious about what it takes to build a model that processes and understands language just like a human (or even better), and what are the underlying mechanisms and limitations of current approaches. I’m also broadly interested in other related learning problems in NLP, as well as the connection between these topics and syntax.
